Re: Friend wants to build me a solid Mahogany snare drum. We need guidance....

Wow. I have never seen a drum (that I was aware of) made by turning from it’s natural state. Your friend is a turner at another level! Like O-lugs said, I hope it doesn’t change its shape much as...

Re: Reverb - in other carts

My brother employs this practice all the time. He’ll research items he is interested in and determine the item that best suits his needs. He may not feel he is in the best financial position to...

Re: Bearing Edge Odyssey Starts Now

Will,
I commend you for your circumspection on this process, but I have found that it really is pretty basic if you have the right equipment, and it sounds like you do.

To level your bearing...

Re: Where have all the Leedys Gone

Dan, these are for sale in my area.

I know the guy selling them and have bought/traded a few drum sets with him over the years. I could help facilitate the sale and shipping if you are so...

Re: Pricing Help - 1970 Ludwig OBP

Thanks. I have a lo-ball offer of $1250 on CL. I saw another set like mine in the SF Bay Area for $1850 without the issues mine have, presumably. I will stick near $1500 for a while.

Re: Band Zildjian Cymbals?

V,
I was thinking along the same lines. I wonder if they made some small-ish cymbals for kids or something.

Thanks for the reply.

Band Zildjian Cymbals?

I just bought a drum set that came with a boatload of cymbals. The 13” hi hats are interesting. They are both heavy, and appear quite old. One cymbal is definitely heavier than the other, though....

Re: Unconventional Drum Set

Thanks, everyone. It was fun to do.

The bass drum is, in fact, just a pretensioned head on a rim, with the ability to tune it tighter. It has an integrated plastic ring that holds a circular...

Re: BR "flat-base" cymbal stand on eBay

SELLER: “I would offer you my live mink for $1000.”
MARK: “Umm, sir, that is a cat.”

Did he drive nails into the concrete floor to hold the blocks of wood in place?

Re: Gigging with Vintage Drum Throne

Poetman,
Yes and no. I have a 70’s Ludwig Atlas throne, the kind with swivel feet and each leg is the same. It has a cheap foam pad under vinyl for the business end of the seat. Not in any...

It sure looks like this Trixon King Series Double Pedal. The footboard pattern is different, but the mechanics seem identical otherwise. I found one other image by searching yahoo with “heavy duty...

Re: What Ludwig Kit Do I Have?

Hello and welcome to VDF.

Your set looks like a Downbeat, except with a 22” bass drum instead of the 20”. Ludwig, and many retailers, permitted size substitutions by the customer.

Re: Slingerland Cutaway Project

I have repainted the gray ones. They are now black and white, with a blue stripe on one. I think they look much better.

Re: Slingerland Cutaway Project

Thanks! I have had more than one person think that the gray ones are green, so I am going to repaint them black and white instead of gray and off-white, like I should have from the get-go.
