Re: More boom on a 20" bass drum?

Lots of red flags for me on this one. Something just isn't "right" about that bass drum. I would need to see more pictures before believing this was a special order.

Re: 1928-29 Ludwig Peacock Pearl I

GAH! THESE THINSG ARE COOL! Such a great cross-collectible, too. This type of drum appeals to not only vintage drum enthusiasts, but also to artists and decorators. In fact, IF I had something like...

Re: Ringo's cymbals in new Get Back documentary

Now THAT'S a good point! It could have been a stamp from the studio or music store rental place, etc.

Re: 1966 Rogers Silver Sparkle Drums

It looks great but I don't "need" it. Give it some time. Someone will find you/it.

Re: Transition badged Super Ludwig imposter?

I know that if I have a "funny" feeling about a drum, for whatever reason(s), then I will pass on it and leave it for someone else to deal with. I don't really know what's up with the badge grommet...

Re: Transition badged Super Ludwig imposter?

I think thin shell might be correct about the badge being taken off in order to polish the shell...maybe re-chrome, but my guess would be polished. The thing is...brass shells' chrome didn't usually...

Re: Ringo's cymbals in new Get Back documentary

They don't look like New Beats to me. The lathing is different.

It looks like the first word is "Sound"....something... I know they aren't Paiste Sound Edge hi hats....but did Paiste have other...

Re: Premier Drums

It's a cool kit, Johnny.

My only experience with Premier was in college. The school had a full kit...but it was some kind of shell-within-a-shell design and those things weighed a ton and were...

Re: Leedy BDP drum set

I feel like cutting back on my collection, too....But, as long as I'm alive, I want to know that anything I put out there, ends up in the possession of someone who won't just flip it for a few quick...

Re: Where is everyone?

Understood, Tommy. I just made a small donation to the cause. God knows I owe this place a lot! I've spent a lot of time here. Here's hoping for some better software! Cheers!

Re: Where is everyone?

And thanks for that, Tommy.

I was just thinking about how this place actually functions as a place for answers and not so much a place for social gathering. Personally, I like that. The place is...

Re: 1935- DUPLEX 5 x 14/13 BUTTERSCOTCH SPIRIT OF ST. LOUIS MODEL

Cool drum(s). Yeah, it looks like the white drum wrap is tucked into a more modern type of "sleeve" that hides the wrap's edges, making it a bit cleaner looking. The butterscotch (or whatever) color...

Re: garage sale Rpgers Dynasonic help please

Nice drum and a great find....but I'm going to play Devil's Advocate and say that I absolutely could NOT get my Dynasonic to sound or feel good when I owned one back in the 70's. I must have sat for...

Re: This One Might Draw Some Interest

Yes, upon reflection, I would agree that the investment would be worth it to most collectors and especially Rogers collectors. Matched kits are SO rare these days!

Re: This One Might Draw Some Interest

Wow sorry to hear about Jim Petty. He ws really THE only guy who was doing repos that were accurate. The Ludwig rail consolettes he made were exact copies. Sad news. Rest In Peace, Jim!

Re: This One Might Draw Some Interest

Even if some of the lugs were in decent shape, then I'd still want to replace them all. Those original ones are just not reliable for use. I suppose if it was just going to be for a kit meant for...

Re: This One Might Draw Some Interest

Almost every lug is cracked. If one were to spend the $35 per lug for the JLP Creations remakes, then if there are what, 52 lugs on that kit?...16 of them on the bass drum, 8 on the snare, 16 on the...

Re: Ludwig bass drum i d help

That is an interesting bass drum. I can agree to the possibility of it being a cradle drum for concert band use....but it's a weird size for that.

It's probably just my eyes, but it looks as if...

Let's say you're a vintage Volkswagen collector and you're looking for a '62 Beetle. One day, a guy drives up in a Bradley GT and says, "THIS is a '62 Beetle! because the chassis came from a '62...

Re: Ludwig P-88 Throw

I have no idea. It looks okay. It appears to be die cast. I prefer the GREAT ol' P83 "can opener", stamped-steel design. I wish they'd bring that one back.

The whole throw off thing got waaaaay...
