Re: Rip talker hawkins

Re: Rip talker hawkins

Disrespecting the dead is uncool y'know?
It's not difficult to spell Taylor's name correctly if one is calling him out, after he's deceased!!
As for drugs, many are legal and I don't mind them.....

Re: Rip talker hawkins

Yeah, "Talker" was one of my faves too.......(you care so much you couldn't spell the guy's name correctly?)
Like other folks, some musicians take drugs.
Preach elsewhere.

Re: Need help ID'ing this 10 lug Ludwig snare

The drum appears to be 5" deep, not 5.5" deep. The company didn't do 5.5" shells then.

Re: Need help ID'ing this 10 lug Ludwig snare

Without a tone control, with that badge, I'd guess the drum is not older than 15 years old?
And, not very rare, sorry!

Re: Transition badged Super Ludwig imposter?

I can't say.
Anything can/could happen post factory, as many posters here are opining. ( Although flanges on grommets are pretty slim evidence for authenticity of a drum, I think.)

Re: Transition badged Super Ludwig imposter?

From the location of the tone control and badge, the shell appears to be one of the last (perhaps) of the WFL shells.
Ludwig switched badge location mid trans-badge era.
FWIW; I have trans badge...

Re: Transition badged Super Ludwig imposter?

Lots of experts out there I see?
One thing I don't think I've ever seen, but I'm only 70, is a faked COB Super Ludwig.

Re: Transition badged Super Ludwig imposter?

I read the thread on DFO. Drum looks good to me. Everything's in the correct place for late 50's brass isn't it?

Re: More boom on a 20" bass drum?

Whatever the extra cost, and it probably wasn't much back then, that's a rare bass drum. The low end must be huge!

Re: Market Contraction? What Say You All?

I think the economy is cruising right along....I think 1950's and 1960's collectors are aging out of the market and prices are dropping for common drums and sets.
The top of the line drums have...

Re: New Citrus Mod Already in Clearance

Well, that's not a clearance price....Ludwig makes prototype kits y'know; I'm guessing this may be one.
And even if it's not, that's not a "sale price" for a classic maple three piece.

Re: Citrus Mod: now you see it, now you don't

About five years ago I sold my Citrus Jazz fest I acquired from Liam Mulholland back in the 90's. When purchased it was the only one known to collectors.
Since then several have appeared which were...

Re: Oddball Ludwig Jazzfest - 2 badges

I had a WFL "masonite shell" snare drum with about 7 wfl badges on the inside shoring up the grommet. Apparently, not unusual for back then?

And, nobody really cared too much about what kind of wood they used I've been told (by long time employees).

Re: Ludwig Standard Granitone Questions

I never heard the whole point of Resocoat or Granitone was not so they could use different types of wood and they'd all match up?
WFL2 told me it was because the wood didn't look good, not for...
