Re: Some old non-descript Ludwigs

Ultimately, it may not have been worth the effort buying tham and dragging them home. If it was me, I would just give them away for free to the first person who would take them off my hands.

Re: Some old non-descript Ludwigs

They will definitely have value to someone. It comes down to how much time and effort you are willing to put in to selling them in order to make at most a couple of hundred bucks and probably less....

I met him at the Delaware show before the pandemic. He is a really nice guy!

Are you referring to Vincent Leef, owner (or co-owner) of Vitalizer Drums?

Re: A Record for Extra Holes

Perhaps we misunderstood and the seller is offering to pay $350 for someone to take the shell off his hands. He would have to pay me. I wouldn't take it even if it was free.

Re: You rarely see a 23" Avedis these days

Six pounds exactly would be 2721g,. If that was the weight of a 22", it might be considered a median heavy cymbal. However, for a 23" cymbal I have no idea how much of the weight is a result of the...

Re: Another eBay Bargain

We may differ on that. Maybe it comes from my technical background as a software developer as well as a musician. I don't like complication for its own sake but when features add value then I embrace...

Re: Another eBay Bargain

Sorry, but I will have to disagree with some of what you said. The solid maple 5x14 DW Craviotto snare which my son Dan uses for rock gigs has much more definition and a crack and sounds completely...

Re: Just about as thin as a 22" ever gets

Thanks. Interesting. It is definitely not anything like the Dream Bliss 22 I have. I think it may be a little too thin for my taste. It reminds me a bit of some of some of Craig Lauritsen's cymbals....

Re: Just about as thin as a 22" ever gets

Thanks. Whenever you get chance. Among my son's many ride cymbals he has a 20" and 22" Dream Bliss. Just curious how a really thin one sounds.

Another eBay Bargain

My son Dan (MileStones) just saw this ad on eBay. Its a Billy Gladstone 7x14 snare. According to the seller its a rare gold plated prototype. and he includes a lot of background history. He is...

Re: Interesting way to try to stop a crack

I still have my thirst for knowledge. However, I can think of better ways to spend my time these days than wasting it arguing about any subject which, in the grand scheme of things, is relatively...

Re: Interesting way to try to stop a crack

Hey Bill,

I assume this is a Type I, correct? I see signs of vertical hatching and the placement of the Made in USA under Turkish Cymbals appears to be correct for a Type I. 2330 grams seems...

Re: Just about as thin as a 22" ever gets

Yep. The 22" Type II trans stamp my son Milestones got from Steve Maxwell's NYC store in 2019 weighs in at 1908 grams. It is in excellent condition for a 71 year old cymbal. While a bit of the Arabic...

Re: Jo Jones in Drum Shop - Kits, teaching....

That video was taken close to 50 years ago. While I didn't get the opportunity to meet Jo Jones, I did get to see Gene Krupa perform several years earlier. It was June of 1964. I know this because...

Re: Jo Jones in Drum Shop - Kits, teaching....

I lived in Greenwich Village from 1969 to 1982 and during the 70's I purchased a number of things including a custom made trap case from Frank Ippolito's Professional Percussion Center. For a time I...

Re: Ludwig WMP

I was under the impression that the floor toms are somewhat hard to come by because the Club Dates were often sold without one. Is that correct or do I have bad information?

Re: Ludwig WMP

Nice looking but the WMP wrap looks yellower than most kits I've seen from that period. What is the general condition? As to the price, how much is the Ludwig Classic Maple snare you would be giving...

Re: Looking for info and value 22" ride

This is a typical '60's A. The condition looks to be very good but '60s A's are very common. I'm no expert on prices especially during a pandemic, but I would guess $125 to $175. Is there a reason...

Re: Ludwig Speed King reissue?

I have had one on back order from the Drum Center of Portsmouth. They recently had gotten an update from Ludwig on delivery. It is now supposed to be available by the end of June, but I suspect with...
