Re: Rogers Drums Are Sturdy and HEAVY

I would not have thought that about the lugless Arbiters. What adds the weight? The rims?

Rogers Drums Are Sturdy and HEAVY

We downsized our lives in retirement when we sold our large house to move into a much smaller cottage. Part of that downsizing included thinning the herd of my vintage drum collection. I had thirteen...

Re: Budget-line drums from the Big Four?

That sounds like a good re-wrap project for some orphan drum shells. Why not?

Daniel Radcliffe, the star of the "Harry Potter" franchise, is set to play "Weird Al" Yankovic in a biopic about his life for Roku. In a cheeky statement, the comedy recording artist said he was...

Re: After 29 years, reacquired my Duplex Spirit of St. Louis set!

Beautiful drums. I have two questions. 1. What is that white line on top of the bass drum that runs from edge to edge? 2. Is the rail consolette fastened to the batter side hoop of the bass drum?

Re: Budget-line drums from the Big Four?

Thanks to a fellow forumite, I acquired this terrific 1966 Luxor six-lugger snare drum that goes beautifully with my 1966 Top Hat set. I like this snare more than the 1963 chrome over brass Powertone...

Re: Gorgeous Kent drum kit (shell pack) on ebay

From what I have read, Kent drums tried to be the counterpart of Harmony guitars. They served their purpose for a short while in history. By the mid 1960s, Kent began importing Japanese-made shells....

Re: Budget-line drums from the Big Four?

Here's a drum set offered for sale by Bobby Chiasson at the Jollity Drum Farm in Argyle, New York. Bobby is THE go-to guy for all things Rogers-related. This is a 1966 Rogers Delta outfit in the...

Re: Gorgeous Kent drum kit (shell pack) on ebay

I remember the Kent drums from back in my early years of lusting for a drum set. That would be when I was 12--15 years old in 1955--1958. The drums from the Sears and Montgomery Ward catalogs and the...

Re: MIJ Sighting

Someone mentioned patent infringement. That almost made me spit out my iced tea from laughing. PATENT INFRINGEMENT by stencil brand drum makers is the rule--not the exception. I still, after all...

Re: Gorgeous Kent drum kit (shell pack) on ebay

That's a good looking drum set. But, for that price, you can find some very nice Slingerland or Ludwig American-made drums of the same vintage. I know that there are Kent drum lovers. I'm not one of...

The best way to transport these drums is in your Yugo.

Re: Ringo's Hi Hat Tambourine in Get Back

On the bass drum beater, you can really emphasize the chick vocalist's tambourine chops on the one and three.

Re: Vintage 1966 Blue Oyster Pearl 16" Floor Tom

The depth of this cocktail drum allows for me (a short guy) to sit on my normal-height canister throne to play. I can use a hi-hat when sitting down to play the drum set. Please note that this...

Re: Ringo's Hi Hat Tambourine in Get Back

Ralph Kester invented Flat Jacks drums. He also created the Ching Ring. I used one of those instead of that tambourine sometimes.

Re: Ringo's Hi Hat Tambourine in Get Back

For many years during the 60s I kept a headless tambourine laying on top of my upper hi-hat cymbal.

Re: Vintage 1966 Blue Oyster Pearl 16" Floor Tom

I lucked out with wrapping a no-name pop corn snare with a salvaged scrap from a forum member's trashed bass drum. That scrap was a match to my 50's Gretsch cocktail set that I consider to be 95%...

Re: Help identifying Ludwig hi-hat stand

Most of us have our favorite bass drum pedals and hi-hat stands. I'v had many over the years--including some Ludwigs. My favorite and most dependable pedals and hi-hats since 1961 have always been...

Re: 65 Slingerland Shelbyville Badge 20/12/14/snare Gold Sparklearkle

Upside down is not as much of an egregious insult to the drum as being on a snare stand.

That drum set is beautiful. It will be gorgeous when you reinstall the original hoops and tom mount hardware.

Re: Canister

By the mid 1960s, very few drummers bought new canister thrones. Some older drummers, who had been playing from the 1950s and earlier still used the canister thrones. But, most drummers used...

Re: Vintage 1963 Blue Oyster Pearl 13" Tom

Most members here know that I don't like Ludwig drums, But, I dislike piecing out complete drum sets even more. I don't wish you well in this effort.

Re: Old DUCO orphans goodness

Speaking of Bum Wraps, they can do wraps like these, too. All you need to do is supply them with good photos of the design you want. It would cost a little over $100 to make wrap for this little bop...
