Re: Slingerland Metal Snare - Is it Barrett Deems Model?

As a side, to sum things up, I reckon Barrett got around.

Re: Is car wax safe for wrap finishes?

I don't think waxes will really harm wraps, and sprayed finishes, and cause things like yellowing.

But the thing I never liked about either waxes, or synth sealants that are a wipe on, and wipe...

Re: Slingerland Endorser Drums

Forgive me for possible wrong name for this snare.

I'd could also be incorrect, but I believe by old memory, the 2+1 was a Bellson Brainchild. (Or was it the Spitfire?)

My understanding is...

Re: Slingerland Endorser Drums

Beautiful Drum!
2+1 with TDR Throwoff.

Would be a great one for my WMP Set. I have 2 Snares with the TDR, the 5x14 COB BR TDR I bought from Steve Maxwell many years ago, and the 6.5x14 12 Lug...

Sonor

I'm sure if I scrolled back through 100 pages in this subforum here, I might find some trinkets written about them.

I know a little about Sonor, but surely no expert. I know my drum teacher Phil...

Re: Drum Brand Preferences

Oddly, and when I was in and out of Frank's Drum Shop every weekend in the 60's, I never much took to Slingerland Drums.

Seemed like they were the Red Headed Step Sister of the lot. Maybe Maurie...

Re: Slingerland Endorser Drums

Hello DrumBob,
No, not asking the value of my Set, but interested as I say if anyone has ever seen other Drums-Sets from other Slingerland Endorsers that had those special Badges?

I might...

Slingerland Endorser Drums

I reckon a question for the vintage Slingy experts, and yeah, been here long enough to know some have come and gone.

As you folks know well, there were many Endorsers over the years, Buddy,...

Re: Oddball Bass Drum Sizes-Ludwig

As for "Catalogs" and walking into Frank's Drum Shop every Saturday morning, there was so much paper literature,

Any "Info" types were all free for the taking, and I had them all back then over...

Re: Oddball Bass Drum Sizes-Ludwig

I've thought of all of this you speak about for decades now.
For sure how I thought how cool it could have been to walk into either or both the Ludwig or Slingerland Plants at the time, those...

Re: Oddball Bass Drum Sizes-Ludwig

Yes, he sent me that page, said it was from a '64 Luddy Catalog, but couldn't find a '65 Catalog to see what was listed.

Yep, his Cymbal Arm is the same, merely telescopes in-out, not an L-Arm...

Oddball Bass Drum Sizes-Ludwig

Something I've kicked around with my buddy over the years, and him asking me about such today again.

Of how many such drums have I ever heard about or seen? I told him basically none personally,...

Could a picture be posted to possibly help show this particular damage?

Re: This is the Display Your Slingerland Drums Thread

Surely won't be speaking of Barrett badly, he was a pretty flamboyant sort of guy. Back in the 60's, when I took lessons from Phil Stanger at Frank's Drum Shop, there was some very personable off the...

Re: Where NOS Kits End Up

I looked for a vid you mention. I only seen Erskine playing a roger''s wmp kit with one floor tom? Is this the kit you speak of?

Sure, Steve gets some dandy stuff, and some of it will carry a...

Re: Vintage sticks

If I recall correctly, as I had more than a few pair back in the day, was the Rogers BR Sticks also had the shaft tapered where you would hold the stick.

In the early 70's I even made a few...

Re: Dented Rogers Shell

Perhaps that, or take it to a experienced Paintless dent repair tech that take dents out of vehicles. They too have the tools on hand.

Re: Heads for a '69 Supraphonic

Everyone has different tastes and styles of playing, but from the beginning, I would always use Remo Ambassadors on all Toms, but preferred Diplomats on my Snares, both Batter and Reso Heads.

And...

Re: FOR SALE: 1970s Ludwig 6.5x14 LM402 Supraphonic Snare drum in *amazing* condition

The joke about my NOS LM-402 was the seller evidently didn't know what he had, thought it was a Ludwig "Rocker" Snare Drum because of the Ludwig Rocker named Clear-Black Dot Batter Head, and Clear...

Re: FOR SALE: 1970s Ludwig 6.5x14 LM402 Supraphonic Snare drum in *amazing* condition

I'd probably have to agree that the basic stock issue strand count Puresound Snare Wires can transform these drums from so so, to stellar.

I remember I still have a pair of stock replacement...

Re: FOR SALE: 1970s Ludwig 6.5x14 LM402 Supraphonic Snare drum in *amazing* condition

Thank you Mike for your comments.

The Badge on my LM-402 looks to be exactly the same as the one in the seller's pictures. Is this what's referred to as a "Pointy Badge"?

If so, then I'm not...

Re: FOR SALE: 1970s Ludwig 6.5x14 LM402 Supraphonic Snare drum in *amazing* condition

Wow.
I got a perfect mint NOS LM-402, B/O Badge, and from the serial # I determined it to be about 1980 manufacture.

Absolutely no pitting of any kind, perfect chrome,no issues, dents, nada. I...

Re: Slingerland Drum research, help!

You might get many numerous suggestions on heads.

The build quality of Aquarian Heads is very good but in truth I never liked the sound of the various Aquarian Heads I've sampled. All seemed to...
