I got my repro Camco "chubby" washers from Mario.

You may have to buy a minimum amount, I don't think he sells by the piece.

Re: Do You Use Vintage Hardware for Gigs?

Still use my trusty 60's Camco pedal, Rogers Swan leg cymbal stands and my Promark/Orange/Capelle Hi Hat.

Re: LP - Latin Percussion - endorser post card

I'm fairly sure that's Martin Cohen, the owner of LP in front with the cap on.

Re: Rogers, keep or sell?

The Rogers 14" FT is a rare thing to find and worth almost as much as the Gretsch kit IMO.
I, for one would keep them!

Re: The story of a 1962/63 Rogers black onyx

What a fantastic legacy. I got to spend a couple of afternoons with the original owner of my Oaklawn Camco kit. These kind of things put a value on an instrument that can't be measured.

Re: I would love to be the tympanist in an orchestra playing this piece

My Orchestra is performing that in two weeks. It is a crowd pleaser.

From MSR of $88 in 1959/60 to 60+ years later sold at $1675.
That's an increase of 1903% ?!?

Additionally, In 1959 dollars, $88 would be around $896 in todays dollars. The auction sale is over...

Re: Rogers Starlighter

I've still got mine in New England White I bought in 1975. In hindsight, I should have gotten it in Marine Pearl, as it looks nicer.

Nice Kit!!

Re: 20's Ludwig 4 X 14 throw

The 1927 Ludwig catalog has it called the "Professional" Model #338.
It fit the 4", 5", and 6.5" metal shell drums.

Edit: O-Lugs is probably right, too. My guess is that the Model 338 later...

I hope you recover from this soon. It sure sounds miserable. My Wife has been nagging me to get the Shingles vaccine for a couple of years, so I finally got my first dose a couple of months...

Re: Mystery snare drum

Drew1975,

From the bottom of the catalog page you posted I believe it says the tuning system was patented on August ?(1)?, 1883?

Re: Mystery snare drum

Mark,

I really don't know much about early Conn drums, but I found those Initials and then just did some interweb sleuthing.
This Conn drum pic looks very similiar, in that the same basic tuning...

Re: Mystery snare drum

Based on the Initials on the fine tuning knob, I think its a G.C Conn drum.
Very interesting and rare example.

Re: Out of round metal shell

Another Idea would be to contact Remo and special order a "classic fit" reso head, so that there would be more clearance.

Re: Out of round metal shell

This is always a tough nut to crack.
Brass shells can be manipulated to some in degree by hand, but steel or aluminum shells aren't as flexible.
My best guess here would be to locate a machine...

Re: Look at me or Listen to me drummer?

"Listen to me" drummer. It's what the whole enchilata is about for me.
Although, in my experience, most of the unwashed masses listen with their eyes.
