Re: Status of Drum Kit(s) of Charlie Watts

Extensive collector; rest assured either Bennett or Maxwell will be brokering the sales. My bet is on Steve. He has a video where he describes doing the much-needed inventory fairly recently (within...

Re: Rogers 14x14 blue sparkle in NJ

verified - that b&b snare has a whopper of a hole in the side - if it was for a Roger's aftermarket attachment, then it must be for a Big R arm, like we see in that bass and mounted tom. I can't...

Re: 1980s Tama Superstar 8x14 - Roller strainer??

Those should serve your purpose here. Essentially any wires that are at least 14" in literal length will help. Key is to get the wires all the way across the bearing edge.

Re: Rogers 14x14 blue sparkle in NJ

If I recall correctly, that snare has a whopper of a hole as well. I contacted the seller from his FB posts. Let me check my phone when i get a chance.

Re: 1980s Tama Superstar 8x14 - Roller strainer??

The roller throw off and butt are designed to work with extended snare wires. The beds are designed to work together with the rollers and extended snare wires. Any shortcuts and you are just gambling...

Re: Which One

JR,

Sorry, reality check here. If I were you, I wouldn't buy either one. I wouldn't be buying anything.

Re: This is the Display Your Rogers Drums Thread

Wow, that may qualify as THE nicest Block kit on the planet! Congrats on preserving it so well for so long!

I'm really not a huge fan of any of the laminate-type wraps from any manufacturer of...

Re: Surprising Dynasonic Outcome

If I had any blue onyx Rogers, I would have been there, but not going to start a new infatuation just because of a hot Dyna. Wait, what am I saying?????

Re: Zildjian Hi Hat Cymbal ID

Mike is correct. I think it's just a case of the press missing the metal on that particular ridge; perhaps it's lying low? I see some ottoman missing immediately to the left along the same ridge.

Re: Uneven lug spacing on Slingerland snare

Most peculiar. I would have thought this would have been more indicative of a mid/early 80's drum as things were sliding downhill in Niles.

Re: Please help me identify a Ludwig 6.5x14 Black Beauty

Ok then, what did you pay? I'll guess $700.

Re: Rogers Question

Another note on true Cleveland (ie pre-CBS) drums that you may already know - they will have solid gray paint. If its speckled paint, its an old Cleveland paper tag being used up.

Re: Slingerland tom air vent MIA

I guess in hindsight my comment above should only be applied to WFL and pre-69 Ludwig drums, which went into the molds with the wraps already attached. Thus a finish-ply drum which gets wrapped later...

Re: Slingerland tom air vent MIA

Yes, that's why its always a head-fit risk when wrapping drums that were originally laquered/painted. Some will cut the wrap down slightly from the bearing edge, but even that brings it's own issues...

Re: A Record for Extra Holes

Probably not, but I certainly could see the difference!

I think the seller is right, cutting it down for a snare shell is the way to go. But heck no @ $350.

Re: Re-stain or not?

There's absolutely nothing visually unattractive about your drum; looks appropriately worn and used. However, it's yours, and you should do what you wish.

I suggest, before you go full-strip, to...

Re: Rogers 14" floor tom sale question

I put the ad up on DFO and several FB groups. It sold through a LW collectors FB page.

I have never sold on Ebay, due to the previously mentioned 'buyer-is-always-right' policy. I used to sell on...

Re: Rogers 14" floor tom sale question

You are selling yourself short (pardon the pun) if you settle for less than $800 on a no-issues 14x14. Frankly I would ask more.

I currently have two Rogers ohio kits with 14x14's, and one kit...

Re: Did Camco drums ever not have vent holes?

I have an Oak Lawn WMP tuxedo 12 14 20 kit with a matching snare - the snare has no badge, but does have the key holder, which I suppose suffices as a vent. But I believe this is seen as a factory...

I, along with certainly quite a number of us, was watching that auction and prepared to bid. I think there were too many question marks for it to go any higher. Yes, I agree with you that it likely...

Re: Are these Tama Imperialstar concert toms?

Those are definitely Tamas. I assume they are imperial stars that have lost their original wrap. Those concert toms had smaller rectangular badges not at all like the ones on double sided toms.

Re: Slingerland Re-wrap opinions

Yes, now that the damage has been done, I'm afraid your original question is completely moot.

If at this point you are wishing to maximize re-sale value, you should sell them as-is. There is no...
