Re: Premier Royal Ace Strainer Alternative?

Regarding strainers for HiFis - this is the model 632, and they are easily obtainable at the different Premier Facebook groups - or ebay UK - for prices from 10 til 15£.

Great investment.

A lot...

Re: Premier Royal Ace Strainer Alternative?

Snare wires for the different Aces are unobtainable - or rather, you´d be very, very lucky to find a set.

You may have to go this route:

Re: Another Premier "How old is my snare" thread.

Seventies HiFis came with cast hoops - and 8 lugs, as the hoops are the same as on 2000-series snares.

Re: Info on Premier Projector

As have been stated in the different posts - 1985 seems right, a very early mk. I Projector.

The Polychromatic Red is a quite common Premier coating, though I haven´t seen it on Projectors.

The...

Re: Anyone know this wrap? ;-)

THAT is a great finish - and what a nice way to make it!

Fantastic!

Actually, Projectors (in Europe at least) only uses the large bassdrum lugs from the Beverley range, whereas Beverleys had...

Re: How many famous Premier Rock players can you name?

John Maher has actually just become a member of the Premier Drums and Percussion group on Facebook, and shown his renovations of some nice Premier kits.

Nice bloke too!

Re: Dixie orange sparkle score! 18 inch bass drum !

Of course you shall glue that rering back into place.

Use water-resistant white PVA-glue, and clamp it gently together, wiping off excess glue with a moist cloth before it dries.

Nice find!

Re: Premier 303(?) Kit

Premier from those years are top-quality drums - as you can probably judge from the craftsmanship on shells and chrome - and the expensive diecast hoops.

Scanned catalogues can be downloaded at...

Re: What is this snare?

For future references - thanks!

And as Poland is only 3 hours on a boat away, we do a lot of travelling to and fro.

Mystery solved!

Re: Premier Vintage Beauty

Heads are easily found - and Remo makes more than Coated Ambassadors. But hey - they are the best choice anyway, so who cares.

A little more expensive than standard sizes - but not too much.

Re: Premier Projektor...who knows something and can show some pics:-)?

The early models came with the large size of the Beverley lugs - bass drum lugs, basically, with the insert holder for toms so the rods sits in at the correct angle.

This is one such kit:

First, I made one exactly as you say - by concerting a concert tom.

Then, I saw a video with Brian Downey of Thin Lizzy on a Superstar kit with eaxctly what you describe - an 8x6½" with offset...

Re: Question about Luxor Made in Japan?

Yes, definitely Hoshino Kougyou - NOT Hoshino Gakki, later to become Star and later yet Tama.

My experience with Hoshino lugs are the opposite of Teversons - I find them very solid and not prone...

Beverley Genius 14x5" - @1938-39

Bought cheaply in complete but rusty and badly rechromed state - flakes of chrome removed, rust removed and the whole drum otherwise generally left as is.

New heads installed - and due to the very...

Beautiful drums, very beautiful.

That white silk is just delicious.

What a shame that Drouyns are so scarce and Australia so far away from me...

Enjoy!

Re: Boosey & Co Snare Drum

I think that drum is very nice!

Not a cheaply made offering, that one.

If you won´t keep it, I will be in the queue for it as well - provided it is 14" and not 13½", as some british snares from...

Re: Premier beaded metal snare

FayRay - the Beaded 6½" snare you linked to and that turned out to be steel is a 1036.

They differ in looks from the Aluminium 36 by the lugs - Olympic/Club lugs on the 1036, "Pointy" standard...

Re: Premier Club Made in England

Premier Club is the continuation of Olympics - or rather, Super Olympics, as Clubs sported 8 lugs on the 20" bassdrums instead of the Olympics 6.

Also just 5 lugs on 12" toms and 6 on 14"...

Very, very nice kits - just one of them should make most people happy.

As a big Premier fan I like your Resonator kit a lot.

And nice as they are otherwise I must say I don´t like late Rogers...

Re: Premier Metal Snare

The so-called "Speedboat" lugs (the double-ended ones like yours doesn´t, but the single ended ones on lugs do resemble speedboats) tells that this is a 1005 snare - if it is @5" deep.

This is the...
