Thanks again Mike! I did see it in the 1927 catalog also but not offered in 6.5" depth. Here's a pic with a snare bed showing...

It looks like you have a soldered bead, but the bearing edge looks different from my universal. Mine has larger flanges and obvious soldering back to the shell wall, whereas yours doesn't appear to be soldered. True? Maybe the edge changed at some point during production.
