Vintage Chrome Slingerland Last viewed: 53 seconds ago

Alright so I've been trolling Craigslist for a new (to me) drumset and I found this. I'm new to vintage drums so I don't really know what I'm looking at lol. Here's the ad he said he thinks it's a '76 but any other information would be very helpful like model or anything else. https://hartford.craigslist.org/msg/d/slingerland-drum-set/6344937648.html

The price is fair, but you could try negotiating down a bit. Almost all the cymbals are lower end Sabian B8's, which are definitely not on par with their pro line cymbals.

Not from 1976, maybe 1986. The Pearl style tom mounts and that style of bass drum spurs put the kit more in the realm of a 1980's kit and probably one of the lower priced lines as well, like the Spirits. Probably not a bad sounding set but not worth as much as a top of the line set of the same vintage.

Those newer Pearl tom/bass mounts were added. You can see the original SOM mount on the bass and tom still and extra holes in the toms. May have had a few types of mounts over the years? Also newer bass spurs and floor tom legs/mounts. I see a re ring in the bass so 3ply drum there. Given those mods it seems a bit high price wise. Worth a look see and see if you can get for a much better price. Agree in the B8's. Not real great cymbals but ok starter stuff. The snare looks like a nice COB 3 line Krupa. Are you in CT?

Oops, that's what happens when you look at tiny pictures on your phone with 50 something eyes. So a bit of butchery has been done but they would be good drums. The wrap would be real sheet metal glued to the shell which is a turn off for some. You do have to be concerned with both rust and dents but these look to be in decent shape. The wrap can be removed but I understand it's quite a job since they used a different type of glue. If you like the chrome finish then probably a nice player's set.

No worries KO I figured that was the case. Your always 100% spot on. I do the same thing looking at pics on my phone and old man eyes. :) Even on my PC I sometimes use a mag glass to see things clearly.
