I thought I'd try y'all before ebay...
I made this one to be the top of the line cosmetic (and mechanical) restoration. I had the footboard polished. The rocker and clamp are the nicest chrome pieces I had. The paint if the original Hammerite Gray.
The usual mechanical improvements. I installed new bearings on this one which is not something I always do, since the old ones usually just need some (well, LOTS) of TLC. The pivot points all have new bushings, and fittings. Some cosmetic upgrades - I got rid of the roll pin Ludwig uses on the clamp - that's always bugged me - and used a smaller stainless allen head to hold the spring retainer. I'll go on and on about what's been done, if I get started. But if you the details, let me know!
One thing I DO want to point out - it seems like restoring these has turned into a cottage industry. I'm not dissing others who do this, maybe they're great. But I do know I'm very thorough. To the point where all the threaded parts arere-tapped and run through a die, for flawless, no b.s. work. All the stuff is worked over. Dude, it's fun.
Oh yeah, includes new beater, and I used NOS adjusting screws for the posts. I did re-use the bearing caps, because the new ones say "Monroe NC" instead of Chicago.
So... I have a fair amount of $ in this, and I don't even bother considering how much time!
