Slingerland Tone Controls

Loading...

I'm trying to determine whether Slingerland produced snare drums (other than "Student Models") between 1956-1959 without factory-installed tone controls. Any "words of wisdom" will be greatly appreciated.

THANKS in advance for your time and your help!

From vintagemore2000

you could custom order your snare drum anyway you wanted them with or without tone controls. it could be a special order drum your seeing. to throw a wrench in the works I have a student model Rk from this time period with a tone control in it and it's factory.

THANKS for the quick (as usual!) response. I appreciate it.

I have an 8 lug marble finish snare not sure of the model but it has a 3 point so I don't think its a student, that has no muffler.

1973 Slingerland Phantom 13,16,22
Late 30s Slingerland Radio King- 7x14
SJC Custom Snare Pink Sparkle- 8x14

I have a marble finish 8 lug snare with clips and straight rims with a regular strainer and NO tone control. I have the same drum with a different wrap and 3 point strainer and it DOES HAVE a tone control.

The only consistent thing about the pre 1980's drums from Slingerland or Ludwig or Gretsch or Rogers is inconsistency. Don't obsess about it.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.
