I just had a couple of Speed Kings that generated a lot of interest, so I'm going to show off two Slingerland Tempo Kings I also worked on:
They have new bearings, and new leather straps. Plastic bushing on the footboard hinges, too. The black frame has a bead blasted footboard with clear enamel. The green frame has a polished footboard -- really cool. The green paint is a 'spatter' type, and has a little texture to it. Different, but the closest I could get to the original color. These are very well built by Slingerland, and HIGHLY underrated. There usually isn't much play in the footboard (but they've been redone, 'cuz what the hell?). The real cause of a loose feeling on these is that the tab that the top of the spring attaches to (I don't know what to call it) becomes loose because the hole in the main shaft gets out of round. So these have been re-drilled, threaded, and are tight.
These are WONDERFUL pedals to play. Very smooth, easy feathering, and super comfortable. I know they're pretty cheap on ebay, but these are really restored to a T, and are (IMHO) better than new.
After working on a couple of pedals and hi hats, I have to say I think Slingerland's design and manufacture is superior. Whatever Slingerland is or isn't as a company, their engineering was at that time really good and they didn't stint on manufacturing. These pedals are extraordinarily smooth and comfortable, especially for we heel down players. You would most def' like these.
I think these are a good deal -- $85 for your choice, and whatever shipping is, I'll pay half (lower 48 US please!!) And YES I'll ship internationally!!!!
