Slingerland 14" Blue/Silver Duco Floor Tom Last viewed: 8 hours ago

I'm looking for some input on this one; I picked up this blue/silver stage band kit locally from the original owner. It's in the later config of 13", 14" 20" (no snare with this one).

I'm not sure what to do with this one. I'm a proponent of keeping vintage kits together, but the bass and ride tom are in pretty rough shape.

The bass: material missing from bass hoop (pedal clamp damage), inlay missing (not a big deal), paint loss and flaking, and original spurs missing. On the plus side, the original mount and t-rod/claws are present.

The 13": Paint loss, serious rash (gouges through the finish ply). On the plus, all original hardware.

The 14" is the best of the bunch. Some paint loss and scratches, some chrome loss on one leg and on top of a few t-rods, and a split in one foot. All original hardware.

The hardware is grimy, but the 14" cleaned up nice. Slingerland chrome is good stuff.

The insides look new. All clean, milk chocolate, all fasteners original, original edges in good shape. No re-ring separation that I could see on the 14".

So here's the thing. I don't need or have room for another kit. I could sell the kit all together, but because of the condition issues with the bass and ride tom, any buyer is probably going to just want the 14". I could use the bass and ride tom as a rehearsal kit, stored at the guitarist's place, and sell the 14" to someone who needs to complete a blue/silver duco kit. Opinions?

Ron, you have a pic of the 14, and are you thinking of selling it? Rich

Hi Rich

Yes, I'm leaning toward selling the 14". i just don't see the value of keeping the kit together, given it's overall condition. I'd rather see the 14" go to complete a kit in better condition.

Here's a few pics:
