I have several drum sets listed on various sites and wonder if I am the only noticing a disturbing trend? I hope it is an anomaly, but the market seems dead right now. I have a Ludwig Hollywood (with a modern tom mount on the tom itself) with matching Jazz Fest, an early 70's Slingerland in WMP and in great shape, an early 70's Sonor Champion in fantastic shape, a late 70's Yamaha 9000 (pre-recording custom) in excellent shape and a couple of newer high quality kits. I have not had a bite on any of them. They are all priced well below ebay prices. Hell, I have a Tama Superstar natural maple 8x14 for $349 and have not even had a sniff. I am relatively new in the collector realm. Is this a typically slow time of year? Fortunately, I have no real need to sell so I can keep the drums and move on. Having said that, it seems that the only buyer's out there are guys like us who want the DEAL so they can re-sell.
Selling these days. Last viewed: 3 hours ago
It's s toss up what is moving are pristine pre 1970 kits and drums and some are bringing good prices , it's a drop in the Mij segment and later model kits just to many on the market right now...
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp
once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

I cannot disagree with anything you said. I am not even getting the low ball offers. I realize that a 1973 Slingerland kit is not going to bring $1500. But not even $700?

April 15 around the corner...
SC
This has been going on for a long time and not just with drums.
I just looked at all of your for sale ads...for "just starting" you've been quite busy. A lot of your stuff sold, and the stuff you have left is priced fairly but there are no bargains. Usually forum folks are looking for deals.
Sometimes you have to keep what you have or take a lower offer and move on.

Just starting is relative compared to a lot of the veterans on this forum. I have been at this for about two years and I am not referring to selling on this forum.

Where did I say I was just starting by the way? You put it in quotes. I said I am relatively new.
I think buying a kit comes from surplus cash..
We here in Canada get our Tax returns usually in April..
Also I noticed on Kijiji (Canada's version to CL) is lists how many items are for sale..
It's usually at 6,500,000 items....now it's at 7,200,000...
So there's more to buy it seems...?

Some things are always going to sell quicker than others. And there are some things that are really hot right now. Every time something gets "hot," it seems like the crooks and trolls come out from under the bridge and start killing the market. Rogers 6.5 COB snare drums are "hot" right now. Two stripped shells recently went to auction on the bay and sold for fat money. "Sold." Only they did not really sell. A week after they finished, they are back on at BIN prices. When sellers create the appearance of bidding shenanigans on particular items, the fallout seems to affect the whole market. 6.5x14 Rogers Dyna-Sonics (Seven Line, Five Line Oval Badge, and even Big R era) have been garnering above 600 up towards 800.00 on real completed sales. Due to some recent shenanigans by some sellers... that might be hard to accomplish next month. Bad dealers create an atmosphere of distrust for everyone.
