Seeking Advice - Super Classic

Loading...

Greetings from Evergreen, Colorado! As I searched for a group of informed drummers to seek advice from, this forum kept bouncing to the top. Happy New Year and here's my inquiry:

I purchased a Ludwig 5 piece Super Classic (4 ply) kit including the optional RIMS on the toms (10",12",14") a 5"x14" snare and 20" kick - all in Cherry Stain. This set is date-stamped "Oct 31 1996".

I also purchased A Zildjian 14" New Beat Hats, 16" Rock Crash, 18" Medium Thin Crash and 20" Rock Ride Cymbals

All in, I paid $2900 and they have lived exclusively in my home "demo" studio since 1996. I enjoyed a few successes as a songwriter but it's time to dismantle my studio and I seek the best approach to selling this kit. It seems that the Ludwig 4-ply Super Classics (especially with RIMS) do not pop up for sale too often. I just re-skinned all with Evans in November and aside from some minor surface wear on the chrome, this kit is in great shape.

1. I wish to set a fair price for this kit and I seek pricing guidance!

2. Does it make sense to bundle with cymbals these days or is it best to sell by the piece?

I will use e-Bay and/or CL and my timeline is flexible. Thank you for any feedback you might provide!

there nice drums just not too popular...price i think it will be hard to get what you paid maybe 1/2 if your lucky////

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Nice set!

I believe it is usually more profitable as a seller to sell the cymbals individually. Very unlikely that a buyer looking at the set would be wanting those exact cymbals, but you never know.

I would expect to see just the drums sell for about $1500 tops right now, and if someone liked the whole package, maybe $2000. These prices would probably be at the high end of the scale at this point in time.

This is just my opinion, based on my experience.
