Hi guys,
Trying to piece together a late-60s Ludwig Classic kit I bought shells for a few weeks ago, and while I've found most of the parts (all of the lugs, mainly), I'm having trouble finding a few of the parts at a reasonable price...
Mainly, I just want the set to be functional - vintage correct doesn't really matter to me, this will be used in my studio as a second kit to my Yamaha Oak Customs, for some of the lighter rock bands that come in. I've been searching online and I see Drum Factory Direct sells a lot of the pieces I need, but they don't specifically say if they will fit vintage Ludwigs or not...
Specifically, I need:
(10) T-Rods
(18) Bass drum claws - probably just go ahead and buy all 20 at this point...
(2) Bass drum spurs / mounts
(3) Floor tom legs / mounts
Now, I'm aware that Ludwig makes vintage reproductions of the legs and mounts for both the bass and floor tom, so I'll likely just go with those, if there's not cheaper options. The brand new ones seem to cost less than vintage parts, and I'd honestly rather buy new on the pieces that will hold the drums up, anyway.
The rods and claws are where I'm having issue... These t-rods seem like they might fit, but I'm not sure. I have no idea what the Ludwig Classic lug's thread spacing is, so its kind of hard to guess, when they don't tell you that it specifically fits.
I'm sure pretty much any claw will technically fit, but I know some of them have a larger radius than others...
This one says it fits Ludwigs from the 1950s to now, but they're also $6 a piece and ~$120 just for claws is a little more than I want to spend... Cool Dude
They have these at only $1.13/each, which is WAY more reasonable (~$100 less for 20 than the others), and they say they will fit any bass drum hoop (plus they will fit t-rods)... I just want to make sure that there won't be some odd fitting on it that will compromise tuning capabilities, or damage the hoop.
Of course, if there are any other options out there, that look a little more "vintage accurate," for not a whole lot more, that'd still be preferable.
Thanks, guys!!
