Removing Paint from a Drum Shell

Does anyone know a way of removing paint from the inside of a 3-ply Ludwig Bass Drum shell. The one I have is 70's and some Dumbass (NOT ME) painted the inside with a thick white paint. I guessing trying to make it look like a 60's Ludwig. I tried sanding it and it takes forever. I've also tried scraping it with a metal scraper and a heat gun but It to risky to do in an apartment. Is there some kind of home remedy or non-toxic chemical I can use to safely remove to the paint without doing any damage to the shell.

Has anyone tried this Citristrip stuff. It's a citrus based paint stripper. If anyone has tried it to remove paint from a drum shell let me know how it went.

I've used it on two shells now and had great results. I believe I've posted pics of the shells before/after on here previously so you can have a look. It's easy to work with, doesn't smell bad, and is easy to find. Good luck!
