What is the standard length for Ludwig Classic T-rods? Did the length from the factory vary by bass drum size or year?

I'm refurbing a 90s 4-ply Ludwig Super Classic. The 22" kick has T-rods that are 5-1/4" in length measured from below the head. I have only found similar design T-rods in 4-1/2" length, whether used Ludwigs or new generic. The shorter rods reach the swivel nuts and can be screwed about 1/4" but don't go quite as far as the lug casing. Is that OK? Or should I continue to look for longer T-rods? Anyone know of a good source? Thanks in advance.
