My "Original" Ludwig "Carioca" set from the 1971 catalog!! Last viewed: 20 hours ago

Some have asked for pictures of my unique and rare set. I got some great pics outside of the entire set with cases. It was bought for my father as a wedding gift from my grandparents in May of 1970. The blue and olive badges date late 1969, but the snare (which is the 14" 410 super-sensitive) and the timbales have stamps inside dating March 1970!! The badges on the timbales are sequential and the floor tom and bass drum only have two digits between them. Everything is original and the cymbals are Zildjian which seem to be early seventies based on the logo size. Someone please give me an idea on how rare an original set like this is?

Man! A kit like that in that kind of condition? VERY rare! Extremely rare! But don't confuse rareness with value. It may not be as valuable as it is rare.

It's a really cool kit...rare finish....complete.....original...great shape!

I agree with what you are saying. From what I have learned though thus far is that the popular Ludwig vintage sets with rare colors go for more money than the popular colors of those popular sets. The problem I have is that I really do not know the popularity of this particular set plus as you stated the rare finish with everything original.
