Mid 70's Gretsch Mufflers Last viewed: 3 hours ago

Do any of you guys know what type screws (and other hardware) were furnished with the mufflers on mid 70's Gretsch drums? I recently finished purchasing the replacement mufflers (I lost the ones I took off in 1979) and want to get them all mounted up. The four that I have purchased all have different screw heads and nuts; pan, counter-sink (you know, the conical shaped ones) and just round. I seem to remember the originals were slotted/round and had washers and nuts, not the thin-metal thingies (I think). Any help is greatly appreciated. Just trying to make the drums right, again.

Thanks.

No one out there has any info? Really? Is there a Vintage Gretsch Drum Forum? Seems it's mostly Lud, Sling and Rog, here. Hmpf.

The 60s gretsch mufflers had the flat squarish metal thingies. Ask Blair.

Thanks Pounder.

Just recieved my final replacement muffler and the mounting hardware matches what's on my same period snare. Mystery solved - just have to locate more period mounting hardware, to make it all good. I really wish I had been more careful taking care of the original stuff, when I was 15. Live & learn.
