Ludwig P83 throw off question Last viewed: 1 month ago

I picked up this Ludwig P83 throw off yesterday. The Ludwig script is different than all others I have seen. What time frame is this from. The script looks a lot like the later 70's stuff.

those are usually found on the very late 60's/early 70's Ludwig standard snare drums. I have also seen a same period supra with that logo.

Thanks Mike. I bought it for my Pioneer from the 60's, so it will have to do for now. The ones he had for 60's script were nasty, so I picked this up for cheap instead.

You did good! A P-83 is a P-83 no matter what logo it has stamped on it. If you got it for cheap, so much the better. They're getting $70. for those units on fleabay!

If you really, really 'must have' a period correct logo on the strainer, you can always buy just the 'slider' plate part with the script logo - as a 'loose part'. It'll be much cheaper than replacing the entire unit. Regardless of which logo it may have, the parts on it/slider plate, are completely interchangeable.

I don't have to have it but now that I know I can do that I'll keep my eyes open for one. Thanks.
