Leedy???
Robyn
There was Leedy drums from the early 1900's until 1950-1954 when they were then Leedy& Ludwig(one company owned them both). Slingerland then bought the right to the Leedy name. Thus the Slinger-Leedys. There's a lot more to it. That's the short version though.
Mike
ok, thanks Mike. the short story explains it. learned something new.
oops sorry bout the double post....it was suppose to be an edit.

Robyn to add another chapter to the story Conn is the company that owned Leedy and Ludwig from oct 1929 up until 1955. It was sold to WFL And Slingerland who forged a deal for the Leedy brand. Slingerland got the metal works of Leedy and WFL/Ludwig got his name rights back. (This part is very abridged.) Just for times sake !
Now a little more History George way worked for Leedy from 1931 till 1942. George then in 1957 to 1959 started the George way drum company, which eventually beacme Camco. the way and camco shells are the very same Jasper shells leedy and ludwig used up until camco went out of business.
Here is the full history of George way, http://www.waydrums.com/history.htm Here is the full Leedy History.
VM2000, thank you for the added info and links. I've read the history of George Way before. that Rochon guy sure did George pretty $hi tty if you ask me. makes me feel bad for George. wish i would of been around then, i would of told that Rochon right where to get off.
anyway.... thanks for the info....but now....this just brings more questions. I'll do some more reading.

Another tidbit of info. After Conn bought Ludwig in the late 20's, Mr. Ludwig stayed on with them for a period and then got frustrated and left. He then began the WFL Drum Company. So for many years the Ludwig family was not even a part of the Ludwig drums that were being made.
