Jazz Fest rims Last viewed: 14 hours ago

I may need to replace my Jazz Fest snare batter side rim. The chorme is good, but it has a very small dent and I would like to replace it. Will any rim this size work, or would you guys recommend replacing it with another original rim. Thanks VDF!

Is it a chrome over brass hoop or chrome over steel? If the drum is for collecting purposes, and you wish to retain originality find an original replacement.

For playing, I'd recommend just getting a modern 14" steel triple flanged hoop. I've experienced a Ludwig COB rim splitting and wouldn't risk that again.

Drum Factory Direct carries repalcment COB hoops. Although they are 2.3mm, and the originals on your drum are probably closer to 1.6mm.

I think I'd play it with the dent. Your the only one that's gonna know unless you point it out to someone.

Yes, as will any other 14" 8 hole hoop.

I use a 25 pound Olympic weight plate as a dolly and a compathane hammer. Most rims a repairable.

If you're wanting to replace it to "restore" the drum to a better condition, I'd get an original, but can probably be hammered out, as has been suggested. Hoops in ebay are crazy expensive , IMO.......marko
