I thought so too, but I also thought the posts I've read here were BS about scores on CL and whatnot. However, I just got home with the Slingerland Rocket throne.....and a few others misc items this really nice guy threw in for me.
Starting with a 1967 Ludwig Hollywood kit in Oyster Black Pearl in VG+ condition. All drums dated Nov 1967. He was also nice enough to include the 400 Supraphonic snare dated Nov 67. I didn't believe that a drum could be mint at that age and I wouldn't use the term to describe many drums, but this thing is mint. I can't find a pit one or a scratch. Of course he included the yellow badge snare case with no damage at all.
I said Rudy, that is still too much to pay. So he also included the 201 Speed King pedal, the 1163 snare stand, the 1124 "Big Beat" hi hat stand, and two (2) 1400 cymbal stands. All of the hardware is in excellent condition without any pitting that I can find so far. But I do still have stars in my eyes tonight so we'll see tomorrow.
I said no way brah, still too much to pay, so he also threw in a really cool and absolutely crazy sounding 18" Zilco by Azco made in Canada crash/ride thing, 1208 grams with 14 rivets and no keyhole at all. It's some kind of Arkansas cousin sex child cross between a china crash and about 3 other cymbals and I love that thing. (Not that the Arkansas...it's just a description, I love Arkansas). A 20" Zildjian ride at 2260 grams with a tiny, tiny keyhole that I think says Made In USA, but I'll have to measure the stamp tomorrow. Doesn't look like it has the dots in the U type letter. Very nice tone.
But I said, Rudy, I just bought a gorgeous 1967 Super Classic in OBP with all matching dates less than 2 weeks ago and I'd be a fool to pay this much for another OBP, besides, I think the 2000.00 you're asking is way too much brah and it's Xmas. So he threw in a killer 14" hi hat set that says Zildjian Istanbul, 907 grams and 957 grams and some guy was even nice enough to autograph them for me on the bottom of each one, clear as day. Needless to say, I'm not going to sleep for a few minutes....and I'll get some pics as soon up as soon as I can. I swear, its been raining Oyster Black Pearl at my house for 2 weeks. And I just completed a restoration of an early 60's Super Classic using orphans and Precision OBP less than a year ago.
So now I've got 3 sets of them......NO, NOT SELLING ANY OF THEM UNTIL RINGO GIVES ME ONE OF HIS. Craigslist rocks. This thing was listed for 4 days and I called Rudy today and he said come on over. The highest bid is 1800.00. Well, evidently the Drum Gods liked my restoration because they gave me some massive karma for the last 2 weeks. Here's wishing that everyone else gets some massive karma and has as good a Xmas as I'm having. Crap, I better go buy everyone's presents and stop buying for me. Right now I'm on the 3-1 plan. I buy 3 things for me and then 1 for someone else. Seems to be working for me right now. I'm sure that I left something out but I gotta say thanks to Rudy. Cheers to a 61 year old that can swing a helluva drum deal.
