Info on a 70's Ludwig Vistalite needed.. Last viewed: 6 hours ago

Hi...

I just purchased a mid 70's Ludwig Vistalite 6.5" x 14" smoke, ten lug snare drum. It's in overall pretty nice shape, however the throw-off isn't as nice as the rest of the drum. It's missing the Ludwig sticker on the face (it's black with silver lettering). Does anybody reproduce that sticker? Also, I noticed that the throw-off sticks out further from the drum than does my Supraphonics. Then I looked at my Acrolites and they seem to have the same P85 (?) throw-off as the Vistalite. It looks exactly the same as the Supra throw-off just sits further away from the shell. What's the story? I also need the muffler assembly which is missing. It has three little bolts with a re-enforcing strip on the inside plus another hole for the knob assembly. Anyone have one for sale and are they any different than any other Ludwig snare from that era?

Thanks...Help2

As for your question on the strainer it's not missing a sticker the one that should be on the drum is like a piece of black/clear plastic with the letters in silver you will need to replace that part of the strainer.I have also seen the strainer closer to the drum and like the one you have away more from the drum..all i can say a bad day at Ludwig??And yes i have them for sell...Now on the muffler the muffler is the same as you would fine on a 70s wood drum but on vistalite's drums in the later 70s-80s--[[if i recall right Ludwig change to the metal plate in about 1978-79]] Ludwig went with a metal plate with the three screw's holes you in other words any ludwig muffler pad would work but you need to fine a metal plate...Mikey

Hi Mikey...thanks for the info. My snare has the metal plate with three small bolts. The middle bolt is slightly bigger, but has no nut/washer/lock washer on the inside where the muffler holder would bolt up to it. Are you saying that either tall or short P85 strainer would be correct or is one correct and the other a mistake, if so which is which? How much for the strainer you have and is it the correct one for my snare? Would you send me some pics please? Thanks, Barry
