Help with ID of Tom Clip/Bracket Last viewed: 1 day ago

Loading...

Hi Folks,

So, I have this concert tom mount clip (or at least I think that's what it is) but have thus far been unable to definitively ID its manufacturer. I've seen a few pictures of it here and there on the web and it's never on the same brand of drum twice. It's shown up on a Ludwig conga drum and a pair of mid-70s Slingerland concert toms. I assume that this is a MIJ part even though I've come up empty in THOSE searches.

Here are pictures of the mount in question:

As always, any help or insight that can be offered would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Regards,

Chris Gervais

I don't know what it is; but I can tell you it isn't Ludwig. Ludwig clip mounts have two centrally located retaining screws to attach it to the shell, not four holes on the sides like on the ones you showed. Knock-off MIJ part? There are a couple of guys who are good at IDing parts. Hopefully they'll see your post and chime in.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Thanks for the input. I knew it wasn't Ludwig as I've seen those types of brackets/clips before (same with Slingerland). It must've been close enough to get folks by in those examples where I've found pictures though. I'm thinking that this is a MIJ part here as well but have to admit I'm so surprised that such a simple design is such a PITA to ID.

They've made millions of those parts overseas for a long while now and from many different companies. One company tries to knock off, Slingerland drums and parts, another company knocks off Ludwig, etc. etc. etc. What you end up with is a mish-mosh of parts that nobody can identify.

We 'used to' have a guy on here, (Mikey777) who knew more about MIJ drums and parts than any other human being I ever met, but he's been long gone from the forums. That's what you need, a guy with an almost encyclopedic knowledge of asian made drum parts!

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. I knew it wasn't Ludwig for sure, and nobody had responded to your question, so I jumped in to offer what little info I had.

Hope you find some help with the ID of the part...
