Help for a newbie on a Ludwig Snare!

Hi guys,

Can anyone give me a better idea as to what this drum is? Monroe badge, Serial number 3178943, 14x5 with a chrome wrap over wood. Need help with shell-type, age and value?! New gibraltar hoops fitted and a new Evans head -

Thanks TC, picked the shell up for nothing and fitted the hoops and a few rods so think I might be keeping hold of this one.
