Gretsch Snare score Last viewed: 1 day ago

Not exactly vintage but not new either. SS Badge 4160 I snagged off Ebay. Other than the batter head, the drum is like it's from the factory new and it's probably 10yrs old at least.

This is my first COB Gretsch snare. It's sound is unearthly good! Oh my goodness!! Loud, unbelievably sensitive, great tuning range. Kind of reminds me of my older 6 1/2 x 14 Black Beauty. Ring and sustain present even with Gretsch reverse CS batter head. Almost overboard with Vintage A head. I don't know why I was expecting a dryer, funkier drum. This is anything but. Anyhow as a treat I've taken pics of a really impossible find. Rarer than hens fangs, a vintage Gretsch Techware snare stand.

My favorite metal snare.

Nice.

I have had a 60's version. My newer gretsch I used to have was all wood.

I think for a metal snare it is great. Really great.

I would LOvE to hear a side by side of a vintage gretsch 4160 vs the aluminum model vs an acrolite.

I have a well worn RB and love it! My favorite COB snare, hands down!

Bowing

Never play it the same way once.
