Hello,
I have a Gretsch snare shell That originall had a SS badge, lightning throw and tuning key holder. It's a 6x14 6 ply shell but the shell is really thin and the edges are rounded. I guess it just doesnt look like any other gretsch snare I've owned. Did they use thinner shells at some point in the 70s?

Sounds right. 6-ply, thin Jasper shell with the rounded edge. I have two of them.

Hi Ray,
I'll let you know when I get it assembled. Its a project. I just got done stripping the many layers of paint off it.
