As you may have seen.. I am building a jellybean kit. I am going to select all the hoops soon..
The snare has wood hoops and claws for what it is worth.
The toms and bass are all Gretsch 60's and 70's
I would like some opinions on the options I have in front of me.
Does anybody think there is a sound difference in new vs old die cast hoops?
Option A - New Die Cast hoops all around and maybe a 16" chrome bass hoop for the 16 - will cost me $89 after my sales
Option B - Stellar Lightweight hoops with a natural wood finish all around to match the snare see style in the photo http://www.stellardrum.com/2alightweight.html -- will cost me $131 after my sales
Option C - Ebay seller can make me a set of wood hoops and bass drum hoops. see pics in attachment
will cost me free after my sales.
I kind of like the idea of the matching claw style hoops.. but would that sound good on a vintage gretsch tom? What is the smallest bass hoop you can order where a vintage pedal will still attach? the come in 1.25" , 1.5", 1.75", and 2"
