this is a blue olive badge 6 digit serial number acrolite. the badge is serial number 861287. there is no date stamp inside. this should be an early 70's model. I would normally just clean a drum like this and give it whatever it needed to get up and running, but the shell had some type of chemical stain in one particular spot. the stain had removed the anodizing. so, I continued with removing the finish and polished the bare aluminum shell with 1500 sandpaper and cape cod cloths. the finish looks very nice, but it is not perfect. the shell would shine up better using a buffer or something more professional than my hands. I sanded and polished on this drum for hours and hours yesterday. I think it has a great look to it. the badge was removed to be able to sand the finish uniformly. I will include the original pointed corner b/o badge which is in very nice shape. I will also include the original grommet. i'm trying to find a replacement grommet. i'll be glad to re-install the badge and new grommet when it arrives if you desire.
the hardware is in great shape. has all original and matching tension rods. has the 12 hole p85 strainer and Ludwig block logo snare butt. I installed new ludwig orange snare wires and a period correct set of Ludwig 2517124 12 strand wires. the drum has some older small logo remo clear ambassador batter and snare side heads. the chrome bowtie lugs are in great condition. the hoops have a great shine to them. just a couple of blemishes on each hoop. the snare side hoop has one edge ding. knob muffler works great.
these early 70's shells are much like the keystone badge models from the 60's. it sounds great! please feel free to pm me here or email to mikelayton@bellsouth.net if you have any questions. thanks....
