I was just asking what type of good pair of drum sticks to actually play and jam with .

Like the Drummers like me . That have arthritis in their arms and shoulders .

Sometimes it hurts bad at times . and sometimes when you wake up out of the bed and it hurts to .

Just wondering what type of drum stick would be Best to use in of the case in this .

Me I tried oak sticks back then . I just couldn't play with them .Just to heavy . I tried old hickory stick . I just couldn't really used them either .

Now I am on Vader maple drum sticks . I think they are 7As nylon tips .

They work ok I guess . I really would like to try something new . Any drummers might have an opinion on drum sticks to use . Dose Pro Marks ,Do they make any other type of a lite sticks rather than hickory or oak sticks .Do they make any other lite drum sticks .

I am not quite awake yet . LOL .I hope this just don't sound to dang stupid on here .

I normally use Pro Mark Rock 747's in American Hickory. My son gave me a pair of the same Pro Mark 747's except in Shira Kashi Oak. They are quite a bit lighter! At first I didn't know they were the same stick, I thought smaller due to the weight. I was surprised. That oak is very light and nice balance to the sticks. I was also looking for something a little different for Jazz-Jazz Rock. I picked up a pair of Vic Firth SZ's which are Zoro's signature stick. Same length as the 747's just a tic thinner/lighter with a nice small ball shape tip. Sort of like the Pro Mark Acid Jazz sticks. A very nice stick as well. I like them alot. I guess maybe try the size you like in the Shira Kashi Oak and see if that helps. If not try out a few others. I always try a few different pairs on the practice pad at the store to see what I like. I love trying new sticks. And have always used a few different sizes and weights. Good luck!

Glenn.

Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

Drum sticks

Pro Marks sticks has some decent sticks . But there some heavy and lite sticks are out there . I tried those 747 oak style . I just couldn't handle those that good . For me it was just heavy . LOL I just don't like long sticks like that .

I am really use to playing with a lite stick with the nylon tips on them . I am just use to the nylon tips then I am more of anything .

Bopworks' Birdland model is one of the lightest/smallest sticks on the market, but you'd likely have to order them online.

I would not recommend Oak sticks, for methey send vibration right into my hands, even with light oak sticks. I get fatigued very quickly. Maple will be the lightest, and I don't have fatigue problems with them. Hickory does have shock absorption qualities, that is why ax handles hammers, etc are made with it.

I would also recommend using a non rock stick, some thing with a longer taper and better bounce,a maple 7 a might be a good starting point.

I am on Vader maple drum sticks already . 7a style . nylon tips

On them . That is only sticks that I am really use to . Wood tips just don't give me that feel , Like the nylon tips gives me . Now the oak sticks by Pro Marks , are some are heavy weight . I never found a oak stick that wasn't heavy . Until I bought a few sticks by Vader maple sticks I do kind of like these little bit better . Softer stick . Might last me for awhile . I hope . I just don't play and practice that hard with them like most drummers that do . LOL . I just thought Pro Mark that might make a liter stick to .

I have the same issues as you, Nsra65, but also Tendonitis in my wrists.

A friend suggested I try the Zildjian Anti-Vibe sticks, so I bought a pair and they seem to work for me. I use the 5A, and they are a bit lighter for the size, and they absorb shock. I am going to order a pair of the 7A's next. The sticks are a bit expensive, but I would suggest you try a pair - they seem work for me.

Thanks

But which one is little nearer and bit skinner . By Zildjian .

7b or 7a or what . What type of wood its made out of .LOL oak is out of the question for me . maple is ok I guess there are lite . But hickory is kind of a cage rattle stick . I just don't feel nothing when I tried Pro Mark hickory sticks .Sounds to me like a strange stick to use .
