It appears there is little real history fo Drouyn Drums. George Meecham ran the factory for 44 years and invented and implemented the manufacturing we see now. He invented and built the machine to produce shells from the inside (bladder etc) rather than from the outside with reinforcing hoops which is now the world standard. George is around 90 years old, incredible to talk to, and as sharp as a tack. Everything, including stands lugs and even snares were manufactured under George's guidance at Stones Corner. My father, referred to in Lindsay Hough's post is still a great mate of Georges and ironically they shared a hospital ward recently.
If anybody wanted to do a genuine history of Drouyn drums, George is the contact and the person to whom credit must be given.
