Date and value of my black beauty

I got back my 6.5 x14 black beauty I purchased from my drum teacher in 1981. He claims he bought it new in November of 1978. I was wondering if a seemless USA black beauty made in the USA with the blue and olive badge with the pointy edgees serial number 1894340 would date the drum as he claimed and what the drum in absolute mint condition is worth.

Those details and date would certainly mesh together. They can get quite pricey as they are very desirable to collectors. A really nice sold last month on Ebay in the 2000 range. I've seen them around the 1500 mark as well.
