Acrolite with no serial numbers Last viewed: 8 hours ago

I was in a pawn shop over the weekend and they had an Acrolite for sale. I was looking it over and noticed that it did not have serial numbers. It was a blue and olive badge and in very good conditions with some scratches on it. The regular Ludwig snare wires were not on it. I asked the guy about it and why it didn't have the serial numbers and he just gave me a puzzled look. It wasn't like the numbers were scratched off, the area for the numbers was just smooth. Has anyone heard of this? Did it possibly have a flaw that caused Ludwig to not put the serial numbers on it?

The guy had it listed for $200 but said that was to keep the bums that come in there from trying to low ball him.

sounds like a transition drum during the switch from keystone badge to b/o badge. there were some during the late 60's and early 70's that had keystone badges on shells drilled for b/o badges and visa versa. when they first geared up for the b/o badges, some had no serial numbers. lots of these drums were made in sept/oct of 70.
