A newbie with a ? about mystery snare Last viewed: 4 hours ago

Hi all, a Finnish newbie here in need of your help:

A friend of mine has gotten hold of this snare drum with no badges or other means of identification. Can anyone out there identify this drum.. or at least guess its approx age? I haven't seen the thing yet, just this photo, so I can't tell how many plys it has etc. There's a badge on the side of it saying: "GPL Trommeln-pauken, Gustav Ponschardt, Leipzig C1", presumably put there by a German dealership. It may be European... then again some fellow drummers at DFO figure it might be US made. The WMP wrap seems to be in reasonable state, the strainer's gone.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Simo[Attachment: 1851]

A strainer image might help, since that can give a better clue as to who

made the drum. Do they have a picture of the strainer?

I'm afraid the strainer's long gone. The drum appears to have been in adolescent hands...

All the pics I have:

It is old dresdner apparatebau snare drum. Made by poschard gmbh in dresden.

They are famous for symphonic model.
