'68 Ludwig ID Last viewed: 20 hours ago

Hi guys,

Can anyone help identify these? Model?

Apparently it's a '68 kit, certainly looks in great condition.

Confused me as the bassdrum is virgin with no mounting arm as I'd expect on a Super Classic, Downbeat etc.

Many thanks,

Spike

Those were on Ebay right? If I'm not mistaken, the same seller also had another 20 and a 12 that matched these which would make it Rock Duo. But I'm not sure if that was a cataloged set in '68.

Would have to see interiors to determine.

Aha! You are spot on. Pretty sure it's the Rock Duo.

First catalogued in '67 it seems?

Please excuse the newbie comment (I'm a 15 year player of Pearl kits) but were Rock Duo's just a configuration name or are the shells/drums actually different to the Classics?

No photo's of interiors. Will try and source some.

From t.c.

well, if it's as t.c. has said, it very well could be from a Rock Duo configuration. The shells were all the same back then. Only the configurations were named.

That's a damn shame if someone split up a perfectly good rock duo set. Those don't come around too often in original shape either. I have a 1968 psych red rock duo set. It first appeared in the '67 catalog so it has prob been around since 1966 or possibly 1965.
