I have a 60's Ludwig kit with a 20" bass drum. My question is the hoop is thinner in one spot about the distance between 2 lugs. It appears to have been made this way. I thought maybe it was where you are supposed to put the pedal but the clamp won't even come close to clamping on that. What is the purpose? I want to know before hooking up my Speed King pedal.
