I know very little about this line, so which are the "favourites" among Paiste drummers, and is there much of a difference?

I've owned both.. Black label vintage 2002's, or any other black label Paistes for that matter, are thinner than their successors.. I personally prefer the black label 2002's not only because they're thinner, but because they have a nicer, overall warmth to them.

Today's red labels can sometimes be overbearing..I have a complete set of black label 505's and they're just as sweet, and again, thinner than the later green label 505's.. Hope this helps ..
