Well, if the price new was $595 (comes with cymbals) and purchased in 1955, then given the action of inflation alone the current price would be $4889.28 (from this calculator http://www.usinflationcalculator.com/). I'll wait and see what others estimate a reasonable price range to be. I wonder, did they appreciate in value faster than inflation?

A link to the 2009 thread discussion would be helpful. My own explorations of what has happened to eBay prices since then shows that some things drums and cymbal are up a bit, others are down a bit, and many have remained about the same.

Looks like that 13" tom does have a split in the wrap in a most unfortunate position. Unless it's just a trick of the photo. We really need mlvibes to give us an update on what's happening in the Gretsch market. From what he said in 2009 it sounds like maybe $2000 would be fair, given the state of that 13" tom. But I'll leave better estimates to those who pay more attention to Gretsch. I'm more of a Ludwig price follower.
