Yes,I believe you MUST get the strainer marked with the D for the Dyna since the cam is different than the similar looking throw used on the Powertones according to The Rogers book. In fact,I tried using the throw with a D on a Holiday snare and couldn't get the snares tight. When I swapped it for a "non D" throw,it tuned up w/o a hitch!Someting to do with the difference in snare beds.

The dynasonic has no snare tension that rides on the head, that is the difference. The snares are independently tensioned seperate from the throw. The frame does not ride hard on the bottom head. The whole thing is loose, so there is an inadeqate amount of pull against the lever bearing riding in the slot at the locking point to make it stay engaged. Thats why the throws stamped with the D had the additional cut at the locking point.

Wow.. so i'm searching online and run across this forum... and thought to myself.. NO WAY.. NOT ANOTHER ONE!??!?!??.. well then i noticed the engraved hoop and realized.. oh! its her!
Check her out now! I was able to unite her with all her family correct parts.
Very nice, the nice thing about Dynas is that because of the original high quality build unless they are totally trashed they usually clean up nice, like yours did.Plus that looks like a 6 1/2 depth, which makes it even rarer.
