WMP Ludwigs...fading issues? Last viewed: 3 hours ago

I may have a chance to get a 60s Downbeat set in WMP. Anyone have trouble with these getting yellow over time? Just wondering if I should avoid this one or not. I want these sizes, but not sure about this wrap.

All WMP gets yellow over time. How bad depends on how much time the kit spent in smoky clubs and in direct sunlight or artificial light as well. WMP in any almost any shade is beautiful, though I have to say it looks best with little to no fade. Unless it looks like mustard, it's gonna be a winner. Go for it!

Cool. I like the finish though. If I can get a decent deal, I"ll probably go for them!

In my humble opinion WMP finishes don't "yellow" over time. They "mellow" over time!Excited

As long as you take care of it the fading is usually very gradual, personally I am OK with a faded wrap as long as it is an even fade per drum, and all the drums are pretty close color wise, as far as wmp goes.

Heck they sell new wrap called vintage WMP,which is faded.WMP is probably one of the oldest wraps offered, and I think Ludwig has offered it consecutivley since they started with it,probably 80 to 90 years,so people are used to seeing faded/aged examples of it.

Fade on any wrap is a personal issue, and my like/ dislike can vary from finish to finish.

If it didnt have some yellowing, I would be nervous.
