From Purdie Shuffle

What a beauty of a snare drum! You did a spectacular job on that instrument. The wood, the hardware, perfection.Sound file please! I'd pay good money to hear that one. :pJohn

Thank you John. How much are you paying?...... Just kidding. Now that I have some time, I'll break out the Presonus Audiobox, set up the mics and get a good recording if I can remember how to use it.

Playing this snare for the first time gave me the same feeling I got when I built a Ford 460ci motor for my 72 T-bird and started it up for the first time and heard that motor ROARRR through the Hooker Super Comp headers and Flowmaster mufflers. It was that "HOLY COW!!!! I MADE THAT!?!?" feeling.

Needless to say, I'm very happy with the sound and maybe I don't need that real Radio King now. Oh who am I kidding? I'd still love to have the real thing. In the meantime, I have plans for some more snare builds and I'll probably continue with the Slingy repro hardware since it's attractive to me and economical to buy. There really wasn't any other lugs under $5.00 a piece that floated my boat.

Nice to see the end product. A drum builder on 3bay was supposed to be building me a stave shell out of cedar, but he never contacted me...maybe it came out too good- Tell you what, I was pretty damn impressed with the stave snare made of Home Depot 2X4's. I thought it sounded good!
