Why do people do this? Last viewed: 11 hours ago

I wouldn´t split a kit that is reasonably complete myself. I don´t split kits, I rebuild them.

On the other hand, when rebuilding old kits, I need parts and therefore I need someone to take a lug, a mount or a hoop from somewhere.

Sometimes, one kit in parts may help 5 kits being completed.

But hey - let us keep it what it is - drums. Made by people, for people to use.

Drums are NOT "orphaned". People are. Drums are NOT people.

Eh, I don't want to sound like a jerk, and I'm not saying this to ruffle feathers, but people who split up kits like that have no appreciation for what the drumset actually is, and probably don't understand the concept of the drumstet as an entire instrument. It really frosts me when people see everything in dollar signs. I should stop before I start climbing my soapbox...I tend to get a nose bleed up there.

I do have an appreciation....obviously,as I about live on here, but......I didn't buy them to lost $150 on either!

The world has spoken, and I guess a 3 piece 1972 Premier kit, cleaned top to bottom, is only worth $350 with $100 of brand new heads all round.....and,a $80 cymbal arm I bought from England...

I listed them twice.......sorry If I am "seeing dollar signs",but I can't sit on these forever......

As has been said.......they are mine......I can go out and shot them for tarrget practice, paint them purple inside, sell them as singles..OTF well....

And if you sell them as a "Ted Nugent Tribute Kit" you're liable to double your money and then some!!

By all means, do what you gotta do...it's my own fault for being a sentimental fool.

All this discussion about breaking up a drumset... Why hasn't anyone noticed that this is not a complete, original drumset? It's a nicely rewrapped collection of four separate drums reassembled as a drumset. Note the bass drum wrapped in two separate pieces, and the wrap seam on the floor tom which doesn't quite line up under the lugs as it should. Rewraps! Nothing wrong with that, and the seller may not be experienced enough to realize it, but we shouldn't be eulogizing a dismembered set when only the bass and mounted tom have serial numbers close enough to have been originally paired.
