I really like the earlier acro's like this one, not many in this shape either, if I wasn't buying that supra today, I'd pick this up, I have a feeling it wont go for the opening bid however

I have a 67. It rocks. Got it for $40 on CL with a little wear and tear and cleaned it up good as new.

I already have a 1980's Acrolite I got from a friend of mine recently.
Not far from here is a 1965 in really nice shape.
Other than I really want it, should I go get it?
Will there be a noticeable difference in the sound between this and the one I have? I haven't played it yet.

the 65 should usually sound more open and a little brighter. either one should sound great though.

Here's my plan:
I'm going to the ham radio swap meet tomorrow looking for a particular used radio (Kenwood TM D700.) When I don't find one I'm going to stop at the music store on the way home and buy that drum.
I looked up the serial number on the one I have. It looks like 1978.
That's what is behind my Mapex set right now so I sat down and played on it for a while this evening. It does sound really nice, but just think how cool that 1965 snare will look with my '67 Club Dates!

67 clubdates were actually shown in the 67 catalog with an acrolite. prior to that it was pioneers and jazz festivals. that acro would be right at home!
