I've seen two more of these, both on RB Gretsch BDs, one of which I bought. They work great! MIJ was my initial thought but the quality of construction screams USA!

My initial thought as well. But after looking at all available pics online of Japanese drum sets, I've yet to see another. That both examples were on otherwise unmolested RB Grestch bass drums is interesting.

The PIC below is as close as I've found. The positioning mechanism is similar, but not the same.

Those are without question vintage MIJ knockoffs of W&A tom mounting arms. They are found on a great many vintage stencil kits. They, like many vintage MIJ castings, are of excellent quality heavy chromed steel.

Did W&A originally come up with the idea of a rail mount? It seems nearly everyone copied it in some way, if not exactly.
