Where can I get brushes like these? Last viewed: 22 hours ago

Anyone know if someone is making brushes like these today? These are Slingerland Jake Jerger models, I'm bidding on this pair on ebay, but would love to find some more brushes in this style.

Here's a couple I keep in my gig bag that are fairly close to that design. Mine are pretty old, so I'm sure there's others out there for you.

I like the extra length and the drumstick shaft, I can't ever get a good grip on my retractable brushes, and they are horibly unbalanced. So I guess looking in the vintage market is the best place?

When I said, "mine are pretty old" ... I was saying that enough time has elapsed since purchase that the choices would be greater. The ones on the right are long wooden handles. They are not vintage. Neither of these are vintage. You can purchase either of these online. Vater and Calato make them. The wood handle wire ones are Vater Wire Taps. They are most like the ones you are seeking (from my inventory, anyway). I'm sure there are others online that would fill the bill.

That Slingerland JJ model, named after my old teacher Jake Jerger. I found two new pairs on eBay about 4 years ago. I gave him a pair and kept a pair.

So look for that model and they will show up at some point.

Here is my pair.

I talked to Jake today, and I will see him Friday, if he has any pairs left I will ask him for them. He can't play drums anymore.

Thanks, I'll look into those brands, I checked the Promark and Vic Firth sites and neither of them really had what I was looking for.

Thanks David, I just got finished reading through your history and looking at all the great pictures you have of Jake, great stuff! If you come into a few extra pairs and want to sell, please let me know.

Regal Tip makes a few different models of similar non-retractable, stick-handled wire brushes. The model 550W and the 551WXL (longer handle) may be of interest to you...There's also a 593C Clayton Cameron model that fits the same basic description.

Vater also makes a model VWTW, Mike Balter makes a LB4 'Stick Brush' with a bead at the opposite end of the brush, and Pro-Mark makes the model B-300, all of which are of similar construction to what you have.

Hope this helps!

There are modern brushes in that style. I almost picked them up to try out.

I'll try to find where.
