I haven't broken a stick since the 70's. The oldest set I have and still use is a set of 7A's from the 80's. The wood tips are bit chewed up, but they just feel so good in my hands I haven't got the heart to retire them. As a rule though, I don't break sticks, so just about everything I own stick-wise is decades old stuff. Bought some new ones (two sets of Bopworks jazz sticks) last year, be a long time before I buy/need more lumber.

I own only one pair.....They are a 70's pair of LUDWIG, I believe 5A's that I try to lightly use once in a blue moon.....I don't want to break them!
I've got a single Slingerland S1. I've been looking for another or a set for years. They're long, with a long thin taper to a large wood tip, so they don't last long, but they are SO nice if you have good stick control.
LOL a set of sticks when i was gigging lasted me about half the night the oldest i have are about a year old Vic Firth 5An's and 5bN's for gigging..
ps.I used regal tips in the 60's wish i still had a pair or two..
I have a 50's pair of Ed Thigpen sticks but, I have only used them once for a very brief time. They are simply too valuable for me to take any risks.
Brian
P.S. Mikey, please check your PM's and emails re: Star L-arm. Thanks.
I saw through a pair of ProMark 737 wood tips about every 4 weeks, But I play about 2 hours a day.
